packaging - Conform with File Hierarchy Standard on Linux: where to put binary examples for a library? -

i creating debian package library , install binary samples. thinking put them under /usr/share/libname, lintian complains (arch-dependent-file-in-usr-share). according fhs correct, can put files?

it's not correct according fhs; /usr/share quite explicitly "architecture-independent data". /usr/lib arch-dependent equivalent, , that's want (/usr/lib/libname).

see http://www.pathname.com/fhs/pub/fhs-2.3.html#usrliblibrariesforprogrammingandpa details.
