any highly appreciated.

is there specific scsi device trying use? scsi drivers built in tiers, it's possible hitting error more specific driver device trying access.
are there /dev/sg* devices?
are there sg messages/errors in /var/log/messages or in dmesg?
you try: grep kernel /var/log/messages | grep sg
